I know I posted about this already. But when I wrote up the post I was out and about so I didn’t upload and attach the video. Well, here is the video show you swinging all by yourself Avya. This is the first time I saw you swing without being helped. I am now sure how you finally figured it out but you did. I am so proud of you.
Sudona, I remember teaching you how to first swing on your own. I remember you getting frustrated because you couldn’t figure it out even though you tried and tried. I kept doing all I could to help you but you just couldn’t just get it. Finally, we were in a park and there was a railing around the swingset. I told you to reach your feet out and try to touch it with your feet then lean forward when the swing started going backward. That did it, you finally could swing on your own. You were so happy and really proud of yourself and you have been an adventurous swinger ever since.
Here is a regular routine we go through girls. Avya you have pretty regular auditions. During the busy season you probably go to 2 or 3 auditions a week. When it is not audition season you probably have one about every 2 or 3 weeks. Sudona we get a fair amount of requests for you to audition but we have turned down all of them over the last few years. But this season you seem to open to doing the auditions. Yes, you still turned down some of them but you also agreed to do a few. So here you girls are getting ready for an audition. Both of you will actually audition at the same place.
Here is just a short video of you girls getting ready.
I was sitting out front talking with your mom about our Japanese
restaurant – like we do most mornings. You opened the door and the
conversation went like this.
Avya: Daddy?
Daddy: Yes?
Avya: Nothing. —- Mommy?
Mommy: What Avya?
Avya: I’m hungry.
Mommy: You’re hungry?
Avya: Yeah, I want crappy food.
Uhm…. I want junk food.
Mommy and Daddy: hahahahahahaha
Yep, the commercial is finally airing. And with that has come with everyone telling me they saw it. I guess they got so used to seeing me hosting educational programs that they never mentioned that. Or maybe they never watched those kinds of programs. All I know is that everyone has to tell me that they saw me in this commercial.
I used to get asked to do commercials all the time but I turned down 99% of them because I thought it would undermine my credibility as a TV educator. But because I had chosen to move away from being a TV host as a career I decided that it would be fun to do a commercial. And I was right, it was a lot of fun doing this recording.
Okay, there is not much point to this post. I just was outside and looking at our little garden and realized that I don’t have the time to grow anything. When your mother was at home taking care of you girls she made some time to plant and grow vegetables. Give me a break girls – I think you know I have a tad more things to do than your mother did when she was at home taking care of you girls. I’ll have that time too in the future. I just hope it comes before you girls get too much older.
I do my scans at irregular times so sometimes I miss adding something to a post. Here is a prime example of that. I wrote a while back about how you girls celebrated my birthday but I forgot to add this scan.
Because of our busy schedule you weren’t able to do the shopping for gifts you wanted to give me so you drew this picture Sudona. It really meant a lot to me because you really thought about what I would like and you wanted to get it for me so badly. It wasn’t just about giving something – you really thought hard. That shows an amazingly kind heart for someone so young. Not only that but also the reason my birthday was celebrated at all was because of you. Everyone else had forgotten my birthday but not you Sudona. You felt so bad that my birthday wasn’t celebrated and you kept reminding your mom until we actually got around to celebrating it. Thank you Sudona. I love you and am amazed by how kind, loving, mature and intelligent you are.
Here are a couple of letters I found on my desk after you had left for school one day. These seem quite old so maybe I have already written about them but I will post them just in case I haven’t. The letter to your grandma was to thank her for your birthday gift. And the second letter seems to indicate that we were having an issue with Sudona treating Avya nicely.
I think I have mentioned before girls that our restaurant has gotten a ton of publicity. They did a TV show about our place and we have been in quite a few magazines and newspapers. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to totally capitalize on the publicity. Don’t get me wrong, the restaurant is making money but we could be one of those places where people wait up to an hour to get a seat. For a short time we were that place. I could go into the reasons we aren’t that place anymore but I don’t really want to hurt your mother’s feelings. I am sure you girls are asking why I don’t go in there and do it then. Well, it is not my dream and I am pursuing my dream. The computer company I set up and am focusing on is my dream so that is where I need to spend my time. I can’t go in and run the restaurant and commit the time to the computer company at the same time. I have to make a choice and I have.
I do know this – things always work out for us in the end and this will be no different. What that will look like I am not sure but it will all work out. It will be interesting to see where we are at this time next year. My big software idea will be out in the market by then and I truly believe it will be a big hit. If I didn’t I wouldn’t be doing it. I am not sure where we will be with both of our restaurants then either. Wow, I am just rambling now. Is there a point to this note to your girls?
Here is one of the articles in one of the magazines. I really should make more of an effort in collecting these articles. Anyway here is a scan of the cover and a scan of the pictures of our food.
This should air on the home shopping networks. The shooting is going
well. When you shoot with other kids it becomes apparent just how good
you are at modeling Avya. I think you have a real talent for it. I
guess it just comes down to whether you continue to find enjoyment in
it or not.
It’s the strongest wind I’ve ever seen. It blew the garage door off
and blew a screen off the window. I should have taken the picture
before I folded the garage door up.
